Message from Council

March 2012 Church Council President’s Message

Isn’t it great? Isn’t it fabulous? Isn’t it rewarding?  These are 3 things that come to my mind when attempting to describe the activities that are taking place at Mt Zion Lutheran Church. The activities are endless. I am so surprised to see how we can fit so many great, fabulous, and rewarding activities into one year. I am sure that you have noticed it as well as we continue moving forward in the life of Mt Zion Lutheran Church.

I promised everyone that I will not be as “winded” as I usually am when I write this article. But it just wouldn’t be right, if I didn’t share with you my thoughts on our church and the direction we are heading. I am a firm believer if you work hard at something, you will reap what you sow. Right before our very eyes, we can see the harvest of the many “seeds” we have sown for the past several months and years. We have come a long way and still have a long way to go. As members of the Mt Zion Lutheran Church community, we should never be satisfied with our status.  Even though we have just begun to see the fruits of our labor, we can and will continue to plant the seeds for the future.

When I returned home from our February Church Council meeting, I really realized how blessed we are and how fortunate we are to have so many individuals going the “extra mile”. I know I am excited, how about you?

We currently have 3 wonderful families that are going through the process of becoming members of our congregation. We welcome them with open arms and promise that we will do our very best to make them part of our church family. Waiting in the wings are some additional individuals who have chosen to join our congregation as well and will be attending the required classes. Yes, these are exciting times and like the song goes, “We Only Just Begun!”

We had a great month financially in January and I sure hope it continues for the remainder of the year. Since this article is written in mid-February, I can only comment on the previous month. Please watch the treasurer’s report and the “State of the Plate” for further updates.

As promised, I will keep it short. I do have one final challenge for all of you. Please open your arms and welcome your neighbors into our church family. If you know of anyone who would like to consider joining the Mt Zion Lutheran Church family and be a part of the action filled calendar of events, please let me know. I am extremely excited and sincerely mean it when I state, “Isn’t it fabulous, rewarding and exciting? “ Now is the time for all of us to shine. May God bless each and every one of you!  Remember, the work can be horrendous at times, but the rewards are really AWESOME!                                                                                                                                                            Jeff Wetzel, Council President
